So gay Iceman. I'm 100% on board for having ethnically and sexually diverse characters in comics, I think most if not everyone is. What I'm not on board for is pandering. Say what you will, but female Thor, the all female Avengers, gay Iceman is pandering. You know what's not pandering? The Hulkling, Northstar, Miles Morales as Spider man or Sam Alexander as Nova. Why? Thor, The Avengers and even Iceman were previously established characters with their own identity and continuity. Being female or gay was not part of that, rather added much MUCH later to pander to a group. The Hulkling and Northstar were gay from day 1, Miles and Sam were born in their respective ethnic groups. Iceman is not gay, because 40+ years of continuity. Note by the way that it's not Cyclops or Storm or Nightcrawer being turned gay, it's Iceman who-maybe I'm wrong- has done nothing, ever. But I have an idea though. Let's turn everyone gay. And a woman. I mean why not? Sure it's completely stupid, but think how open minded and accepting the company will look.
Thanks for the article btw Play boy, this is really worth wile news. Anyone remember Colossus in Ultimate X-men? He was gay. Why is it important? It's not, no one cared, no one made a big deal out of it. Also in Ultimate X-men Nightcrawler was a homophobe. Anyone cared? No. Why? Because it didn't matter, because it wasn't written to pander, it was written to be read.
I really wish I could be the person who LOVES everything that's being printed I really do. I wish I could love this change blind of the fact that it's completely pathetic, I wish I could love Skottie Young's idiocy my GOD how I wish, I wish I could love all characters the same, because I'd be likable. I don't. I don't like this decision, I can't stand mediocrity, I don't like pretentiousness.
You know what my favorite thing about the whole of Marvel is atm? Chip Zdarsky and Dan Abnett. And like all of the art in anything, honestly the artists are so beyond writers at this moment it's unbelievable. They're not only enjoying what they do, but know how to do it. Zdarsky wrote the most ingenious and insightful Rocket ever, and he did it in 3 panels.
